Cordillera property owners each receive one 90-gallon bear resistant trash container and one recycling container. Owners are required to use the bear-resistant containers.
Trash containers may be at the curb between 7:00am and 7:00pm the day of pickup - they may not be left out overnight. Violations will be tagged, and property owners who leave trash containers out repeatedly will be fined.
Recycling containers are not required to be bear resistant. Additional trash outside of the one container is subject to additional charges - such as lawn debris, bags of trash, appliances, construction material, etc.
For repairs to lids and latches, contact Public Safety at 970-926-2335 or Vail Honeywagon at 970-476-3511.
The CPOA administers Community Dumpsters and Recycling for property owners who cannot use the scheduled pickups or who have extra garbage/recycling. Community dumpsters are not for construction debris, landscaping debris of hazardous materials or chemicals. Community dumpsters are located above the Cordillera Post Office, behind the Cordillera Metro District maintenance facility on the left side of Carterville Road.
This area is secured by a gate that will only open for property owners' transponders/gate access devices. Property managers and others cannot access this area.
Chemicals and electronics do not belong in the trash or recycling as they can be toxic to the landfill and in some cases present a serious hazard to the driver of the truck.
Eagle County operates a facility that accepts chemicals and electronics at the Eagle County Household Hazardous Waste facility at the Eagle County Landfill. It is located approximately 2 miles north of Wolcott off of Highway 131. Disposal is free for property owners. There are nominal fees for people who are not owners such as renters, property managers or landlords.
You can contact the Eagle County Household Hazardous Waste facility at 070-328-3463.
